Revving up work on personal projects
Tags: school
Now that I am done with school and I have completed work on some money-earning projects, I am switching my focus to my pending personal projects:
- Changing server hardware – Something less power hungry than what I have now. More details later.
- Upgrading Fedora – Since I am changing hardware, taking the opportunity to upgrade Fedora. FC13 release is only a week away.
- A Django project – Still not sure what exactly I will do but I want something that takes advantage of the newly released 1.2.
- Network security – Research new (or new to me…) tools to enhance the security of my network.
- Studying new subjects – Things like SELinux and a refresh on iptables are on the table.
I plan on using this blog and the wiki to document throughout these next few months. Very excited/amped about this.

Upgraded WordPress using subversion
Tags: wiki, wordpress
Upgraded to 2.9.2 using subversion. I documented the process on the wiki.
Although I was originally kind of sketchy on using subversion to upgrade WordPress, I am now more familiar with subversion so I think I will be sticking to this method instead of using rsync.

Unique Comment Notify up on WordPress.org
Tags: unique comment notify, wordpress
So finally got my plugin up on WordPress.org’s repository:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/unique-comment-notify/
My submission was pending for a little bit less than a month but I can’t complain–it’s free hosting.
This is actually only the 2nd time I have played around with repositories. I experimented with svn when attempting to follow WordPress.org’s how-to on updating it’s software. However, because of my non-traditional setup, it didn’t really work for me. I ended up using a more involved method of upgrading.
